Here's a Cool Thing: in Persian/Farsi, we technically have no gendered pronouns. Any singular person who isn't "you" (تو) or "me/I" (من) is like the English speaker's singular "they", which for us is "u" (او).
So even in a super old & gendered society, gendered pronouns? Nah.
"them" & "their" is less clunky & more inclusive than "he or she" or "his or her" & you can magically make your sentences smoother & more inclusive by banishing "he or she" or "his or her" from your vocabulary thank you for coming to my TED talk

One of the worst things about abusers is that they single you out. They blame you for how horrible they are to you. Then they put on a sweet face out in the world, so if you tell mutual friends about this person, they may not even believe you. That’s so fucked up.
