Slight correction: one of our amazing recruiting teams managed to inform and recruit a patient very last minute, so we actually finished at 119 patients ππ€©

Also in our #YorkshireDay series. The @aphrodite_trial, spearheaded by @cancerphysicist aims to find out if a higher radiotherapy dose will give greater benefit to patients with #bowelcancer

Dose planning results from our @aphrodite_trial trial presented by Debra Howard @RTTQA_UK π The trial use a novel mesorectal volume with SIB, implemented in a multicentre setting. Luckily, thatβs been feasible, with almost identical OAR doses in the two arms #ESTRO24 #radonc

It's fantastic to see research funded by the charity making a difference to lives across the country π
More great media coverage for APHRODITE today! The trial is a testament to the close ongoing collaboration between @LeedsCTRU and @LeedsRTresearch - and would not have happened without essential funding and support from @yorkshirecancer

Great to see a patient from the @aphrodite_trial bravely sharing their story. It is a real pleasure to provide the quality assurance for this trial and we are delighted that 75/104 patients have now been recruited. Well done team!
Brilliant to see @Independent highlighting the APHRODITE trial - and to read Tom Critchley's story as a patient on the trial. Tom, thank you so much for helping other cancer patients by contributing to clinical research π https://t.co/JVqzD8cpIw

We hope that many more patients with rectal cancer, like Tom, can benefit from radiotherapy in the future, and avoid surgery and a stoma. 75 out of 104 patients recruited - not far to go now! #radonc #rectalcancer

Itβs such a great feeling when your trial finally hits its recruitment groove. Never easy but always worth the effort @cancerphysicist πππͺ
July was our best month yet for recruitment! We recruited β¨7 patientsβ¨ across our 11 trial sites, brining us to a total of 63 patients (out of 104 planned) A special shout-out to @TheChristieNHS, where @ClaireLArthur & colleagues recruited 3 patients! #rectalcancer #radonc

Thanks to everyone who came to discuss our working paper on the interim @aphrodite_trial patient preference results! We look at the trade-offs patients having radiotherapy for rectal cancer make between cure/side effects - relevant for clinical dose-escalation studies #hesg2023

Excellent to see our @EFOMP_org work on the involvement of #medphys in clinical trials expertly presented by @NatLAbbott on the #ESTRO23 stage (And I definitely appreciated the @aphrodite_trial mention!)
