It’s #BowelCancerAwarenessMonth and we’re launching our #PassItOn campaign. Today we’re passing on this key message. Having symptoms doesn’t always mean you have #BowelCancer. But it’s still important to find out what’s causing them. Learn more about the symptoms:

74,000 cancer patients waited too long for cancer treatment in 2024, & incidence is increasing. @bowelcanceruk we're speaking with #OneCancerVoice in signing this letter to @thetimes Behind that stat are people and their families with so much to live for and no time to waste.
We’re speaking with #OneCancerVoice in signing this joint letter to The Times with 50+ colleagues across the cancer community. We welcome and support @wesstreeting's cancer plan. But to be successful, it’s vital that this commitment is backed by the investment needed.

Fairly certain we're safe from the prospect of AI turning into Skynet. Tonight, I asked Gemini to come up with suggestions for movies that could work well for a 40th birthday celebration. Its best option was The 40 Year Old Virgin!

NHS staff in Wales work so hard to provide the best care they can for cancer patients. And yet, we are seeing lack of progress in improving early diagnosis, long waiting times, and missed opportunities to innovate. This has to change. Patients are counting on it. #cancercantwait

Bowel screening has been a plus point recently. Then you see this stat and realise just how much there is still to do. Given screening is the best tool to pick up the earliest (most treatable) bowel cancer, this isn't good enough. @bowelcanceruk

As someone who spent their time at @CRUKCymru regularly calling for a proper cancer strategy in Wales, this passage in the BBC article is particularly galling. We're not setting ourselves up for success.

This morning's @WalesAudit report on cancer in Wales is troubling. It shows how things simply aren't moving in the right direction, with a lack of clear leadership. As a result, patients are being let down. Two things really stand out for me... 🧵 https://t.co/0vhmbR1FSk

Increased investment has not made a difference to the ongoing failure to meet national cancer targets.

Finally! This is my moment (but only just!) #BondJamesBond
James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli says they are looking for a male in their 30s for the next James Bond. They are also open to the idea of Bond being a person of color. (Source: https://t.co/KZAgksoS6S)

The earlier #BowelCancer is spotted, the more treatable it’s likely to be. Knowing the symptoms of the disease can help you to spot it early. Learn about the symptoms: https://t.co/0M7K1uJTEx

This is amazing news. We know how important cancer strategies are. They're more than just a piece of paper. They provide the opportunity to transform the way we diagnose and treat bowel cancer. Really good to see England will get one before too long.
A fantastic way to end the week - Minister confirming in response to @CliveJonesMP Westminster Hall debate thar there will be a cancer strategy which will follow the 10 year health plan The cancer community spoke with #onecancervoice & I’m delighted that @wesstreeting listened
