For this #LiteraryLandscapes essay, I appreciate how Monique focuses less on Morrison's fiction and thinks more about her as a public speaker and symbol.
Toni Morrison & Euclid Ave mural—on Black women lifting up each other, bc as Morrison said, “the function of freedom is to free someone else.” #LiteraryLandscapes by @MoniqueWingard. #ToniMorrison #Cleveland #Ohio #ClevelandIstheReason @TheCLE @GlenInfante

One of the super cool things about this essay was how Alice takes the experience of reading and thinking about Morrison and connects it to her own life, an ocean away.
Toni Morrison & Chesapeake Bay—driving along the Bay, trying to experience the place concretely, seeing the links between past and present, proximate and distant. #LiteraryLandscapes by Alice Sundman. #ToniMorrison #ChesapeakeBay #Maryland @thisisFINLAND

Trivius takes such a cool, personal angle on Morrison—it's a great example of an approach that not everyone has access to!.
Toni Morrison & West Point—speaking to Plebes, Morrison makes “the auditorium, alive with the resonance of storytelling,” a space of racial belonging. #LiteraryLandscapes by @TriviusC. #ToniMorrison #Home #ThayerHall #WestPoint #NewYork

I've never had two essays in the same volume deal with locations in the same city, but I love how Ashley's essay about Lakeview Park plays off Tara's reflections on Morrison's childhood home.
Toni Morrison & Lakeview Park—exploring the traumas experienced by young Black girls in #TheBluestEye and reclaiming the park as a space for healing. #LiteraryLandscapes by Ashley Burge. #ToniMorrison #LakeviewPark #Lorain #Ohio @LCGov

Check out Tara Conley's essay on #Morrison. I feel like I've been sitting on this one so long, and I'm delighted to finally put it out in the world!.

Absolutely unsurprising—yet still damning—to read the stats about Florida university professors fleeing the state that Dew cites in this column. It doesn't have to be this way.

The cost has already been severe, and it is only going to get worse with professors looking to leave the state.

Thanks to Bitter Southerner for publicizing resistance to FL censorship efforts: “School board elections are winnable,” Moricz said. “The margins are winnable. We’re able to show students that if one marching band voted, they could flip a school board.”
