After 31 years, I’m leaving
@BBCBerkshire
. It has been the privilege of my life: a daily radio show is above all a relationship with listeners, laughing and crying together. I am so grateful to everyone who tuned in and to the talented producers whose work made a real difference.
I’ve been so proud to read the news for
@RealKenBruce
@BBCRadio2
for the last 25 years…and even drive the studio desk from time to time trying not to mess up PopMaster. Huge congrats on the new gig, KB… what a broadcaster. Here’s when Martha’s primary school panda came to visit

A joyous day picking up my MA at
@UniofOxford
I always feel so at home in a city where I know every street and where little has changed in 30 years. I spent many hours studying Hansard in the Radcliffe Camera which continue to shape my attempts to cover politics
@bbcworldservice
1/When I got the call to say I hadn't got the job as a
@bbcradio2
producer, I wasn't expecting what happened next: would I like to read the news? My first shift was 26 years ago tonight. Somehow I missed the train and there followed a white-knuckle taxi ride to Broadcasting House
On 10th October 1992, I got up at 2.30am to present my first
@BBCBerkshire
Breakfast Show. And after a million early starts, general elections, foreign trips, royal weddings,
@bbcradio2
news bulletins and
@bbcworldservice
podcasts... it’s still the best job in the world.

said they wanted more good news so here’s a new weekly podcast - this week I talk to the man who sailed the world with a chicken, the guy who lived on ketchup for 24 days and the woman whose knitwear could win an Oscar
Celebrating twenty five years of reading the news

@sarajcox

at 8pm. This is a truly special family to be part of and I was as excited to arrive today as I was in 1998… when Studio 3F was a bit less glam.
Steve is simply the best. He has a feel for radio like no one else and is the soundtrack to millions of lives. The thrill of reading the news on The Big Show throughout his time
@BBCRadio2
has never waned…and I’ll miss gossiping in the green room!
1/ When I moved from night shifts to daytime newsreading
@bbcradio2
in 1999, the first big star I worked with was Sir Michael Parkinson. He was unfailingly generous both there and in regular appearances on my
@BBCBerkshire
show about our shared passion for
@ReadingFC
.
One day my daughter Martha came in to see me at work
@BBCRadio2
and met the amazing
@mrmichaelball
8 years on, today she stars as Tracy Turnblad in an amazing production of Hairspray at school. I for one can’t help but think these things are linked in some way…

Huge congratulations
@tonyblackburn

Happy 30th birthday

- the station that gave me the Saturday Breakfast Show as a 19 year old student in 92. I learned so much about radio there and have v happy memories of working with people like
@kategarraway
who started at the same time. This isn't Kate with me in 1B...
24 years ago I began my first national radio gig
@BBCRadio2
: such a moment to be working with people I’d grown up with like Terry Wogan and Jimmy Young and the biggest stars in the industry. Can’t believe I’m still at this special network where I’ve made so many lifelong friends.
I was sorry to report the news
@BBCBerkshire
this morning that Steve Beddow has died. Steve joined us from Radio 210 as our

This is very exciting and why the BBC World Service is so special - we’ve just launched “Dars” – the first multi-platform education series for Afghan children barred from school hosted by Afghan female journalists.
