Not only are forecasters expecting no cuts in terms of congressional budgets for science, they are expecting actual obligations (i.e the executive branch spending appropriated money) to basically match appropriations. Which, uh, yes please.
Excited that Open Phil is funding this @metaculus forecasting tournament on the future budgets and spending of NIH and NSF, and surprised that forecasters are expecting basically no cuts

Solar is huge in Africa, due in large part to cheap and accessible panels from China
I’m bullish on solar globally, but especially in developing countries. There the alternative is no power rather than 100% reliable power. In just the last year, Sierra Leone’s solar panel imports are equivalent to 61% of the country’s ***entire 2023 electricity generation***
