We're gonna need a bigger brochure. @DOMSinaiNYC DHM proudly presenting ~25 posters, 4 workshops, a MedTed talk, and new feature "Best of last year" presentation at @SHMConverge. Going to be lots of fun, especially the group dinner!

Amazing ⁦⁦@DOMSinaiNYC⁩ doc Lina Miyakawa to the rescue this morning! Speaker had to cancel last second due to an emergency. Lina volunteered to provide Mid-Atlantic Hospital Medicine conference attendees “Mechanical ventilation for the hospitalist.” Great talk!

Thanks for the amazing hospitality from Anush Patel, Doug Delong and everyone @BassettNetwork. Spent time with their terrific house staff and got to speak on all things Anticoagulation at GR. Plus, met Dr. John Davis, who literally wrote the book on Bassett!

Dr. Rachel Cyrus @SocietyHospMed Special Interest Group describing her findings in @JHospMedicine on hospital leader expectations of their hospitalist groups. Reassuring and liberating! Perfect title - Collaboration, Not Calculation. https://t.co/9Sy4w1x7Bw

Not at all easy to craft a question that's relevant, interesting, and promotes joy in learning. Thanks for doing this weekly, @NewYorkACP!

Excellent talk by Aveena Kochar at our system-wide hospitalist faculty development session on the impact of death on physicians. The default is to move on to the next patient. Aveena described tools for debriefs, which can be valuable for trainees and experienced attendings.

Maybe everyone else already knew this but mind blown by finding out that to "square" a number comes from getting the area of a square with that side length. 4 squared is a square with area 16. Getting unexpected joy from this. #nerd

De ja vu. @JAMASurgery study finds patients of women surgeons have lower death and postop adverse events 1 year after surgery. We've seen the same for Hospital Medicine (Tsugawa, JAMA IM, 2017). Setting the bar high across specialties. @IcahnMountSinai https://t.co/rV7JPgsRqu

DOACs in Dialysis - Yes. Small RCT in @CircAHA and other studies support apixaban at least as safe/effective as warfarin for AF in ESRD. Until better data on optimal dose, can use the package insert criteria to guide who gets the lower dose (2.5 BID). https://t.co/ui8ouEmkE8

Main result of this rigorous cost-effectiveness study in @AnnalsofIM was close balance benefit/risk for indefinite vs 3-6 months AC for 1st unprovoked VTE. Looking harder, there was clear benefit for indefinite low dose AC. Keep high on your option list. https://t.co/EnK0cnA2hV

My patient told me he's a sound engineer. Hoping he's into classic rock, I asked what genre he focuses on. He told me, "All types - techno, house music, hip hop, dance." I must be behind the times as I thought these were all the same style. My patients teaching me every day!

My new definition of cool. @DOMSinaiNYC hospitalist Michael Herscher just voted the IM Program's Hospitalist Educator of the Year. He was flattered but unable to attend the ceremony because his band was playing in NYC. Great educator and amazing bass player! @IcahnMountSinai
