To create a sense of belonging for all, public lighting should be thoughtfully designed at a people scale, providing a safer environment. Consider factors as brightness, the layers of light, and the quality of light, which influence how people perceive their surroundings (2/2).

Inclusive lighting: Public lighting should prioritize the safety and inclusivity of all, rather than solely serving the needs of motorists. Improper lighting can create uneven patches of light that hinders pedestrian navigation (1/2).

Collaborate and co-create with LGBTQ+: Planning authorities are recognizing the need to consult with aging LGBTQ+ individuals to address their specific needs in the built environment.
