Dangerously Close to Contempt is a unique story, replete with personal, provincial, national and international intrigue. There have been few instigators in journalism quite like Roger. You should buy a copy. Chapters, Coles, Amazon, etc.

Underrated factor in why English-speaking countries have especially bad housing crises is their common law systems (adversarial and litigious) vs judge-led civil law systems elsewhere. Makes Anglo planning/permitting systems especially vulnerable to NIMBYs and other objections.

I interviewed Poilievre Friday and asked if Outhouse would be the guy. He said “stay tuned.” Guess I didn’t have to stay tuned long.

To anyone who blames the Ontario premier for the ad: You are deluding yourself badly, and will soon find that the obsequious approach you favour offers no more protection from the madness

Remember when Carney unilaterally dropped the digital services tax as a gesture and expectation of good faith trade negotiations? Elbows up indeed…..

The City of St. John's election check system is sort of private - you need birthdays and addresses - but lets you see who has voted and whose ballots haven't been received, like John Hogan's. Is he busy or something?

I’m not covering it on vacation (I believe allNL was the only outlet to cover the restart) but the Braya situation is so odd. Who ever heard of a major industrial project in NL shutting down for 6 months and then restarting with no announcement at all? Good news. Just odd.

Not that anyone else locally reported it, but as a business reporter I am a little embarrassed I didn't know Vernon Wells was a financial backer of Son of a Critch.

We have built something special. The cast and crew have created an amazing show. I’m so excited for everyone to jump on board!

It was fun to talk about the book and do the 20 Qs. I suspect they ran out of space, but I had an explanation for my dinner guests that "they food would be great, the conversation lively, and one of us might be dead at the end of the night." https://t.co/FcD8xFaegs

While we're fussing in NL with how much we love Canada all of a sudden, with its spiritless city signs and cherished not-America-ness, remember our artists and our own uniqueness. Buy @doylejw's book, "In the Sunny Long Ago," with rare images presented by a master storyteller.

Ujiri is the best ever Raps GM. A tireless worker with a great eye for talent and one of the most creative dealmakers. But he falls in love with his own guys and prioritizes talent over fit to high degree. Maybe it was just time. Thanks, Masai.

This is so lame. What's the most generic thing we can do to be like the rest of Canada? And can we please pay $85,000 to do it? https://t.co/188p4lxmvG

Canadian players scored 71 points in the NBA finals last night, while Francophones scored 60. The Francophone mark must be a record, and the Canadian one would have been, if not for the 72 points in game 1.

In April, 2024, I wrote about NF seeing the same-kind of left-right, urban-rural split common in the rest of Canada, but not typically part of the post-confederation history on this island. Tonight continues that trend. This may be wind in the sails of the NL PCs.

Nighttime House of Assembly banter is often much more entertaining than daytime. Of course, one needs to actually stay up and want to watch it....
