1/ VICTORY We're so happy for and proud of the Vasquez family who were forced to advocate relentlessly over nine years for their residency due to our ableist immigration requirements. The road is not an easy one. https://t.co/3j6HfVF8qh

Carolina Vasquez moved to NZ from Chile to give her children a better quality of life. But her daughter's disability meant her visa applications were rejected, resulting in an expensive fight to stay.

Important reporting from Peter looking into what went wrong at the International disability Alliance - to help hold this largest global representative org for disabled people to account. https://t.co/5LZtiK1eRB

Uncovering the crisis at the International Disability Alliance
What went wrong at the International Disability Alliance (IDA)? At the start of the year an independent review found “signals of mismanagement” and alleged “abuse of power” by its leadership. Around $850,000 was identified as “financial irregularities”. 1/

We join over 150 organisations in calling on the government to scrap its harmful Treaty Principles Bill. This Bill doesn't respect the collective status of Māori as people of the land here nor recognise the ongoing impacts of colonisation. https://t.co/xalhJdt1mY

How many more red lines will Luxon allow Jones to cross?
#Breaking: We are calling on @chrisluxonmp to remove Minister Shane Jones after fresh evidence shows Jones invited mining companies to a secret dinner (off the diary) & provided false info to the media. Other MPs have been removed for less in the past. https://t.co/2AsrFDdJfS

The cruelty of an immigration system set on separating families who have lived here for decades and whose members are deeply reliant on each other is immense. They should be able to stay together here w/o fear of deportation or recrimination. https://t.co/4MY9gkabD9, 10:03 AM

This Govt is taking us backwards by ditching the subsidy which would've ensured all disabled ppl can be paid a min wage along w/ everyone else - the entire point of a MINIMUM is it's the floor w/o any exceptions. Appreciate @RMarchNZ advocacy here

Sometimes inclusion doesn't go beyond the sign in the window. This edition looks at how UK and US schemes to promote employment aren't working, and thinks through making inclusion real. With @DebbieF15967248 @ainekc95 et al https://t.co/jOjlmNGqOn

Solid analysis here outlining the evidence demonstrating why "harsher penalties and tougher punishments" actually work against the goal of reducing and preventing offending.

Analysis - Evidence shows the link between punishment, discipline and behaviour changes are weak at best, psychology experts say.

2/2 We know interdependence intimately. For those needing the most attentive & specialised care, respite cuts risk burning out families & more chance of disabled ppl separated from them living in institutional residential settings. This bc of political decisions

1/2 The cuts to disability funding were one more reminder to disabled people & whānau of being devalued, seen as $ units rather than as people. And that's just one out of many cuts impacting our community. https://t.co/c6y392dBgT

The Govt will reverse the ban on oil and gas exploration. Terrible news for many key industries in NZ which rely on a stable climate and safe pollution-free land/water/air. Playing yoyo politics with offshore oil also detrimental for renewables investment to keep our lights on.
The Govt will reverse the ban on oil and gas exploration. Excellent news for many key industries in NZ which rely on natural gas and also critical for keeping our lights on. https://t.co/pbqlYiaW9a

And we remind the ministers - disabled people globally are on the frontlines of climate breakdown and environmental injustices. So make sure to back our disabled leadership when figuring out how to adapt as there's no climate justice without us ✊2/2

Sooo many cool cats at the March for Nature today & also thinking of other disabled friends who couldn't be there. ngā Haumi from Waikato Uni did the meanest speech, if I find will post - but about interconnected struggles for decolonisation and liberation. #ToitūTeTaiao
Epic to be part of the 20,000 strong crowd marching for Tiriti and taiao today! The call for the Government to stop its destructive, anti-Tiriti, anti-democratic Fast Track bill was loud and clear. 1/2

Political decisions not to ensure liveable incomes for all funnel ppl into poverty, and then more Govt decisions trap them there. This isn't a Govt for all NZers, it's a govt for financially comfortable non-disabled Pākehā.
