Mind blowing. The Luxon Government has confirmed it will rewrite NZ’s once bipartisan climate change law to dilute methane reduction targets and PERMANENTLY exclude dairy from the Emissions Trading Scheme – a move Greenpeace says amounts to full-blown climate denial. #nzpol

Here's Marc's graph showing the climate impact of the methane target chance equates almost to Australia's net emissions last year.

No matter where we come from or where we live - most of us want healthy farming, clean water & jobs that we can rely on for decades to come. A regenerative farming future is ours for the taking & anyone who says differently is lining their pockets by poisoning our water.

But NZers arn't stupid. There's a reason this government had to quietly release the methane decision on a sunday. National is now polling in the 20s, and ACT's attempts to take over local government just crashed spectacularly, with 3/4 of their candidates failing to be elected

The reality is that big polluters and their pet politicians are peddling lies to us about the food we eat and how we create value as a country. They obfuscate so they can contaminate our rivers, poison our drinking water, & privitise natural wealth that should belong to all of us

Federated Farmers response to the decision was released before it was even publicly available, making it clear that the decision was written by the dairy industry, for the dairy industry, who accounts for 1/4 of NZ's emissions but just 4% of GDP https://t.co/VgbecIGtTZ

So while we were busy on sunday at church/processing local election results, the govt announced a massive methane target change, which exceeds the emissions of the entire United Kingdom. It's a colossal loss for NZ's climate & economic future. https://t.co/o33LZI8JIm

Comment: The Government's methane announcement is the policy equivalent of a steaming cowpat on cross-partisan climate consensus.

Pretty shameful to see our Govt position on Palestine today - and the attempt to package cowardice and collusion as some kind of bigger picture understanding- massive failure and clearly shows where NZ Govt loyalties lies.

In an opinion piece for the @guardian, @jacindaardern has now called Israel's assault on Gaza a 'Genocide'. Her insta post about the article reads: 'Simply put, the genocide must end.' The former PM's documentary will be released in NZ cinemas this week. https://t.co/x55rBPO47M

We know women give birth during war – and too often, they die. But we must do much more to achieve safety and stability, says former New Zealand prime minister Jacinda Ardern

What's the rationale here? If a non-fast track mining application is unacceptable because it will stop a windfarm, surely it doesn't matter under what process that application is made? The same can be said for many of the other aspects the fast-track is overriding

This logic makes no sense. The govt says it's important to create no-go zones for seabed mining where they conflict with offshore windfarms. But those no-go zones will NOT apply to fast-track mining applications. Why? Surely a no-go zone is a no-go zone?

Bringing Wellington’s bus depots under public control is already helping attract interest from a wider range of bus companies. Public ownership of critical assets can help secure public services, drive competition and get a better deal for the public. https://t.co/MPTdpzcXGs

That’s not standing up for the people, it’s selling out to the highest bidder. That is why Seymour wants to cut public services, cut workers rights, cut taxes for the richest - handing even more power to the elites he pretends to oppose. Just like Donald Trump is doing.

David Seymour says he’s on people’s side—but when you take a closer look it’s pretty clear who he’s really fighting for. It’s the rich, the powerful, mates in big business. Taking millions of $$ of donations from plastics companies, property developers, and the ultra-wealthy.

The CRAZIEST thing about Taylor swift getting engaged to Travis Kelce is that in the middle of the climate crisis, foreign-owned Bathurst Resources is trying to cut down native forest to build a ginormous coal mine the size of Nelson city. https://t.co/Ps2MOuwAK7

Six years after NZ’s Zero Carbon Act was hailed as world-leading, dozens of climate policies have been scrapped or delayed (I counted them) The latest Climate Commission report warns we’re off track. Is the law just an empty shell now?

The Zero Carbon Act promised to lock climate ambition into law. But with key policies repealed, delayed or watered down, the once 'world-leading' legislation has become a husk of its former self.

NZ’s gas supply is collapsing — and the govt’s big fix? More drilling. But experts (including Shane Jones’ advisors) say it likely won’t work, and there’s no backup plan if it fails. My story here https://t.co/78ecNTMiNN
