35 years ago tonight, we remember the 259 souls who lost their lives on Clipper 103, plus 11 on the ground in the Scottish town of Lockerbie. N739PA pushed back from Stand K14 and took off from Runway 27R, with most passengers travelling home for the Christmas holidays. RIP.

From the comfort of the control tower at Heathrow, I witnessed 10 x consecutive missed approaches during Storm Eunice in 2022, all well executed. Both flight crews and ATC are highly trained in this well-established procedure.
It’s going to be a breezy couple of days at various airports in the UK and around Europe. This will probably result in a few go-arounds being flown. Please don’t be concerned about these. It is a normal manoeuvre we perform if a safe landing isn’t assured. You’ll be fine 😄✈️
