Thanks for featuring our research! ๐๐๐ @vivekhsridhar @fritzafrancisco @ada_sacchi @icouzin @CBehav @mpi_animalbehav @UniKonstanz
Octopuses, which are often considered to be solitary animals, have been observed to hunt in groups with different species of fish โ including several species of goatfish and groupers โ for shared prey such as molluscs and crustaceans. @NatureEcoEvo @NaturePortfolio

Octopuses team up w/ fish to hunt, study shows. But no slacking: if a #fish doesn't pull its weight, it risks getting smacked in the gills by an #octopus!๐๐๐๐ https://t.co/uxT4x0Wa2u

Check out our latest study of collective behavior in octopus-fish hunting groups in the wild. Many years of work by @OctoEduardo, Simon Gingins and team - @NatureEcoEvo
Some octopus and fish species appear to share leadership when hunting prey together, according to a paper in @NatureEcoEvo. The findings broaden our understanding of the sophisticated cross-species social life of octopuses and fish. https://t.co/4zTbUgWSLK

We describe how octopus-fish groups can work, can malfunction, and can lead to benefits! Give it a read and don't forget to see the videos for punching, displacements, and examples of solo vs collaborative hunting!! ๐๐ ๐ Out in @NatureEcoEvo!!
Scientists have uncovered the secrets of multispecies hunting! Octopuses & fish team up, with fish guiding the hunt and octopuses capturing hidden prey. #UniKonstanz @CBehav+@MPI_animalbehav research reveals incredible interspecies teamwork. @NatureEcoEvo
