New lab toy (Dionex IC system) has arrived, thanks to the NSF BRC BIO grant. Exciting days ahead..

Thrilled to announce that our lab received it's first major grant through the @NSF BRC-BIO program. This funding will allow us to continue our work on the biogeography of dormant extremophiles in the marine sedimentary biome. A PhD position will be advertised soon - stay tuned!

Our method, SituSeq, for portable and offline analysis of Nanopore 16S rRNA amplicons is out as a preprint. We used it last field season to analyze deep sea sediments while on the Atlantic⛵️ and have compared results b/w @Nanopore and Illumina platforms
