Remember when Arslan Ash said that he wasn't even the best player in Pakistan and we thought he was just being modest?
Awais Honey just went to his first global Tekken event and beat Knee 3-0 and 3-2 in the Grand Finals.
We aren't ready.

Run times of Top 8s thus far, from "Round 1 Fight" of the first match to the last hit of Grand Finals:

MK11: 3h 54m
MBTL: 2h 40m
GBVS: 2h 49m
DBFZ: 3h 40m
In any FGC tournament, a quarter of the field will go 0-2 and another quarter will go 1-2. Literally half of everyone you see will lose more than they win. Nobody is going to laugh at you for losing.
Go. Play. Learn. Have fun. Meet old friends. Make new friends.
Never think you're "not good enough" to go to tournaments, especially majors. Most people go to just vibe and play games with no expectation of winning and that's great. They are the backbone of all local communities.
Reasons to join the Octogate Gang:
*Nobody will ever accuse you of cheating
*Replacements will never run out as demand will always be low
*Add salt to your opponent's wounds after beating them by telling them you play octo
*Avoid loaning out your stick without having to say 'no'
I'm disappointed that the Punk pronoun situation happened.
I'm even more disappointed in so many people are trying to downplay it because either they think it's not a big deal, or because the party ultimately responsible for the hurt is good at their favorite game.
I've seen lots of people disappointed by the lack of stream time for SFV/Tekken/DBFZ at Frosty, and it made me realize how different this edition feels.
Frosty has *always* put the spotlight on Guilty/BB/Melty. (1/3)
For those of you who just started following me during Evo, allow me to say hello. My name is Ace and I love fighting games.
Also, in a couple days, allow me to say goodbye. My name is Steve and I'm a new father of an amazing little fighter who has my whole heart.
For those who wish to have childish debates about the order of the

finals day games, I've assembled a list of talking points.
Please use responsibly. Even though I know you won't.

To review, you're trying to justify not having to check in at 8am by pulling the patriotism card against an actual military vet.
Someone who got into fighting games when Street Fighter 4 came out on home consoles and stuck around until today has been in the scene longer than someone who got in when Super Turbo came out on home consoles and stuck around until Street Fighter 4.
You're welcome.
To the best of my tired-ass ability, here are the run times & ad times of all of the
#Evo2022
Top 8s.
MK11 went the longest at 3:54 despite no GF reset (8/10 sets went to 5 games)
GGST the shortest at 2:25 (thanks to just 1 ad break, likely due to starting 2hrs behind schedule)
The FGC event landscape is changing, and it will change even more once Big E steps back.
Summer Jam. Final Round. NCR. SCR. Northwest Majors. Canada Cup.
All of them major events, especially for their regions. All of them, for different reasons, will be gone.
Cyclops has dropped Tanukana after she said on a recent stream that men under 170cm (5'7") tall don't deserve human rights and suggested that they look into bone-extending surgery.
This is a significant day in internet culture history.
Since it's after midnight in Japan, it is now officially the 20th anniversary of the release of "Yatta."

at 640 entrants is the 'last place' game at

, but it is the largest-ever 'last place' game at an Evo.
Previous biggest smallest-game: Killer Instinct (546) at Evo 2016.
@CapcomUSA_
For all of you non-fighting-game fans, Capcom is hosting its championship event for Street Fighter V next weekend. The countdown is scheduled to end just as that ends.
It's almost certainly Street Fighter related (like Street Fighter 6) or something else Street Fighter tangent.

Ad thread 🧵
Just like last year, I've calculated all of the ad breaks shown during the finals of each game at Evo.
It's not a perfect apples-to-apples comparison, as they made the switch from Top 8 finals to Top 6 for

The
#TWT
website has updated to reflect the new Finals payout structure after Astro Gaming's $100,000 contribution.
Here's how it compares to this year's old structure... as well as last year's payouts.
Why you should join AceKingEsports:
* Your payment is a hat. That's it.
* You don't get a salary so you'll never get paid late.
* All players get an equal share of my $0 profits.
* I won't insult your relatives... Unless they beef with me. Don't start none, won't be none.
I've made a shit-ton of errors and typos on these Evo Japan schedules. For that, I'm sorry. It's inexcusable.
That said, I'm still doing a better job of communicating this info to Western audiences than Evo itself. That is INCREDIBLY inexcusable.
Please RT: Stream schedule for... whatever event you want.
As promised, here is the Excel template & logo assets I've used to create all of my schedules over the past 8-plus years.
It's messy, but it's my mess. Do what works for you. Make it your own.
