Over the last couple of years I gave up alcohol, caffeine, and sugar. Your default habits must change, but each brings a different 'pain' on top: alcohol adds a social challenge, caffeine withdrawal was very physical for me, and sugar has been the hardest psychologically

With 30 years of coding in all paradigms for all manner of software/products, and I can back this up with some deep empirical certainty:
Quality of domain modeling trumps just about every other code-quality concern.
In

, modeling data accurately is more valuable than writing good algorithms.
With clear data modeling, errors that are possible in your program will be fewer, and your codebase more coherent. But doing it well can be a hard skill to develop!
