Unbelievably disappointed to see you promoting such a naive & reckless policy, @TheGreenParty. Every year in Britain women & babies die who cld have been saved with medical intervention. So why push a dangerous ideology? Cancer is “natural” too - doesn’t mean it’s desirable 🤷‍♀️

The @TheGreenParty manifesto states :- “We will change the culture of the NHS so that birth is treated as a normal, non medical event”. Sad to see a political party promoting such a harmful message. Let’s change the culture in the NHS to one that strives to ensure as few women &

The @newbornfdn had its first meetings with #NewbornScreening officials in the UK in 2011, 2012, 2013. A dozen years later, there is still no required newborn pulse oximetry screening in the UK. 😞Kudos to @a_ewer, @ngozi_ediosagie et al, for shining💡on this. #ItsDueTime

Thank you @DrEmmaRees. Those of continuing to advocate for uniform + universal #newbornscreening, alongside @a_ewer, have known this for years. #PulseOximetry screening can reduce health inequities for underserved babies. Hope the UK is finally ready to implement. @newbornfdn

@BAPM_Official @a_ewer We @ImperialNHS have been routinely doing pulse oximetry as part of NIPE over the last 7/8 years or so. So far we have identified a few TA/PAPVD, coarctation and only last week a case of HLHS not detected antenatally. Delighted that @BAPM_Official will support this.

1/6 Tiny Tickers continues to push for all newborn babies in the UK to have access to #pulseoximetry testing. We’re proud to have funded & placed nearly 600 machines in #NHS hospitals, which has contributed to the fact that 78% of neonatal units are now providing the test.

As I said it’s a long read, but worth dipping into if you’re interested. I find it very difficult to call it inconclusive. What’s your opinion?
