Of course, I think CHI should become more accessible and I also understand that it is going to be very hard to do. But at minimum, there could be some openness and clarity around the limitations/expectations of the hybrid experience and what is and isn't going to happen.

It may be difficult to do hybrid well, but there was not enough clarity about what attending/presenting hybrid would entail. Authors were given the impression that presenting online would at least mean their papers would be acknowledged on-site in some form. And they were not.

Been reading a few #chi2023 folk tweeting disapproval with the online experience. Clearly it was minimal-ish but itโ€™s easy to underestimate the insane amount of work (and cost) needed to do hybrid well. Personally, I donโ€™t think the technology is there yet.

Thank you to everyone who puts in effort for the extra events, parties, and receptions that happen around the conference itself. These are so important to meet friends both old and new. ๐Ÿฅ‚

I also had an amazing experience as a student volunteer! I met too many amazing volunteers to name here, but I hope to stay in touch with this great community of early career researchers. ๐ŸŽ“

I participated in the workshop "Moral Agents for Sustainable Transitions" and met a very exciting group of people exploring different perspectives on the ethics and politics of design. I am excited to see where this goes next. ๐Ÿ‘€
