I am excited that our paper "Articulating Felt Senses for More-Than-Human Design: A Viewpoint for Noticing," co-authored with Anton Poikolainen Rosén, has been awarded an Honorable Mention at #DIS2024! (part of the top 5% of papers at the conference!).

DIS2024 WORKSHOP ALERT! 📦 Have you relocated several times as an academic? How do you deal with impermanence? How are the objects you take with you? What does it mean? Join us! You only need to submit a brief vignette or description of an object. You can also bring it with you!

This workshop is being organised by me and a group of talented designers: Janne Mascha Beuthel, Rachael Garrett, Vasiliki Tsaknaki, and Nantia Koulidou. If you want to join us, please submit a brief narrative (a paragraph or two) around an object. Check our website for details.

However, we also know impermanence brings other interesting qualities to the fore, such as resilience, creativity and meaning. As impermanence becomes the rule, we need to be prepared to face the challenges this new world will bring.

In this workshop, we will problematise nomadism and uncertainty as a possible future where settling down is no longer the rule. Being a nomadic academic is not easy. Settling down constantly is emotionally draining, and there are not so many spaces to talk about this.
