You can write the clearest error messages, with links to the clearest docs, and some devs still won't read them. Instead, they email asking why they're receiving a 403 status code when the answer is in the response body (which they copy/pasted into the email!!).

The freedom of doing your own thing: eventually you get to say, "I hate this, and I don't actually need to do it.". And then you don't do it.

A lie-by-omission is so much easier to commit than a direct lie. And so much harder to detect. But as they say: A lie-by-omission is twice the lie. What are you 𝘯𝘰𝘡 saying right now, that needs to be said?.

One of the biggest levers in SaaS is, really, just staying alive. Time in market fixes a lot: your product gets better, your messaging improves, your market starts trusting you more, and distribution improves. Happy 4th. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ.

Could open source maintainers use the OBBB's no-tax-on-tips to keep more of their donations, or are those donations not considered tips?.

How do others solve backing up large Heroku databases offsite, to reduce platform risk? I don't like solely relying on Heroku for disaster recovery via their 'continuous protection.' Logical backups aren't feasible past 1TB. cc @jessethanley @adamlogic maybe?.

How has nobody built a Heroku addon that forks a pg database and uploads a backup to S3? I'd pay hundreds/month for this. I see @SnapShooterio but it requires me to manually fork the database before a backup and then delete the fork. I want something automatic.

I was able to try this out last night, and it worked great. I had been putting off the upgrade from 15 to 17 because upgrades involve so much late night manual work, now I can schedule and forget it. Once again, there's a reason I'm still with Heroku.

The ebb and flow of burnout has been a constant my entire career (and life, really), and I've wanted to write about it for so long β€” to be helpful to others and to unpack it for myself β€” but I could never really put it into words. But I feel like it's all finally clicking.
