Here we explore the role of #Wnt and #Nodal signalling during mammalian gastrulation using #gastruloids. Building on the work of many labs, we propose that antagonistic signalling-dependent #modularity in the PS establishes the early mammalian body plan.

A Nobel-winning scientist of great modesty and humour, John Gurdon died on 7 October. Not only did he make a discovery that laid the foundations for the field of stem cell research, he also created one of the best environments for research at the Wellcome / CRUK Gurdon Institute.

John Gurdon https://t.co/QXMjHLKlS3, beacon of a generation that tackled head on the deepest question of biology: the development of an organism. The best tribute to him and his peers should be to remember and follow the path they forged for how to do Science in form and content.

We've just updated our manuscript to a more 'publishable' version! https://t.co/wT8ma3mWqQ New details about the role of Wnt in suppressing neural differentiation and fostering a posterior epiblast state, and the temporal effect of Nodal signalling in driving mesendodermal fates

Great work from Alexandra and Sebastian et al showing how gastrulation is governed downstream of Wnt and Nodal. Two competing transcriptional modules, two opposing signalling activities, orchestrate the emergence of the mammalian body plan. moving forward, together
Two transcriptional modules that control mammalian #gastrulation that are functionally linked through their GRNs https://t.co/FFTw6o4nWJ and paced by interactions between Wnt and Nodal signalling @realArnoldLab #gastruloids

Fun collaboration! All the nitty-gritty about N2B27 and gastruloids. Kudos to all the authors, particularly Tina Balayo (¡que va de primero!)
New Gastruloid preprint just landed... nice collaboration between our lab, @_andre_Dias_ and @AMartinezArias

For some time now we’ve been aware that Chiron #gastruloids, while representing well axial elongation, exhibit a shortage of anterior fates. Here https://t.co/VyvomYxTJT led by @_andre_Dias_ we uncover the reason

Nodal builds the anterior part in a concentration/time-dependent manner, regulating mesendodermal differentiation. Wnt paces gastrulation by controlling the state transition leading to the caudal epiblast emergence (#NMPs). CHIR and Activin gastruloids mimic these two modules.
