Today, I've got an awesome guest post from @CresseySP – Massachusetts pitching coordinator, @_JordanKraus_. In it, Jordan provides a thorough description of the factors that determine whether a pitcher will be successful on the mound: https://t.co/l1Lko25bDQ

Sources: The NFL informed all 32 teams today in a memo that it prevailed in its grievance vs. the NFLPA and its “team report cards.” An arbitrator determined that the NFLPA’s conduct violated the CBA and ordered it to stop making public any future report cards.

Want to take a moment to thank everyone at @CresseySP for the last few years. I’m grateful for my time in the birdcage and the relationships that were built here. I’m excited for this next chapter with the Mets as the bullpen coach for the AAA team in Syracuse. #LGM

Most pitchers need to: 1. Change their secondary shapes to contrast their fastball more effectively. or 2. Use a different fastball type to contrast their best secondary weapon. This discovery process often results in a pitcher’s ideal armslot + seam orientation combination.

If you struggle with a late arm, “flying open”, lack “separation” or somewhere else in the sequence, learning to rotate and create clean hip extension can be a big piece. (2/4)

Hip extension before knee extension Left runner achieves better propulsion for several reasons, but one thing that stands out is the fact that they maintain a more forward shin angle as the hip achieves extension. Runner on right leans forward more as the knee extends early.

(3/3) Decide what it is you’re working to improve, then decide what environment best accomplishes that. Sometimes it’s easy to get lost in the constraints and forget to work to translate those patterns to where they matter—> the mound.

(2/3) Plyos and other constraints can be a great tool to remap certain movement faults, we use them everyday. But, spending too much time in that environment can take away from the ultimate goal, using that new and improved movement pattern to execute a pitch from 60ft.

(1/3) That first line should at least make you consider how much throwing volume you spend on a plyo wall or net a few feet in front of you. Having clear intentions and a training outcome in mind should help guide your decisions and allocation of training.

When a plane is off course by 1 degree it misses its target by 60 miles. This is called the 1 in 60 rule & here's why you need to use it to achieve any goal:

Embody the performer you want to be. You can be that person in the moment. Visualize them and become them before stepping on the field. Shoutout to @Pelf12 and @ontherhoad for introducing me to this mindset during my playing career. Absolutely works.

How does the character handle adversity? How does they interact with teammates/coaches? How does they speak? What do they say? What do they do?

How does the character carry himself on field? In between innings? (If you lack confidence or a killer instinct, make him/her a warrior) (If you struggle slowing things down or staying calm, make the character a zen master)

Give the character a name. What traits do they have? What unique abilities do they have? (These are the superpowers that use to be effective in your craft. Can be real both real and fake) What does he look like? (Be creative, uniform/outfit, weapon if you need etc.)
