I make transit construction timeline (infographics)! 🚧 🚇 Transit Politics & Planning | Cities | 24 |

Thought I'd make a pinned thread of all my transit timelines for any newcomers and to just to keep it all in one place! Folder with them in High Resolution: https://t.co/gAvAhZpTqV Toronto/TTC https://t.co/Wa5ymQQPyZ
I made a TTC construction timeline! We're all familiar with those "evolution of the TTC map" videos, but I always wondered how long each project took, from construction starting to opening, instead of just a timeline of opening dates. Below will be a thread of takeaways:

It’s great that stronger TSP is now a political priority. Unfortunately, our $3B+ tramway will STILL take 46-min to go 10km, slower than the bus, due to: - “Vision Zero” speed limits of 35 midblocks, 25 intersections, 15 platforms - speed limits and gradients enforced by CBTC
I wanted to compare what I saw on Seattle's Line 1 LRT with Toronto's Finch LRT. In Seattle, you can see left turning cars waiting while fast-moving transit gets priority. Help @ttcriders make it happen in Toronto: https://t.co/JefUjNwC9g 📸: @DamianDC7 / @KevinRupasinghe

Unlike the other ones, Hamilton actually deserves an edit. Mogged Burlington by a mile

I also found this low quality image map on Pinterest. The government website doesn’t work anymore. Also found this video from 2019. https://t.co/at8aEjC2xH

Seems like someone made a system map on Google Maps in 2016. Need a more current one though. https://t.co/PmppM1cAP1

These are the bus routes for the busses on Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico.

Does anyone know where I can find a bus system map of Puerto Vallarta? I can only find individual routes and there seem to be multiple operators like MiTransport and ATM? And if I can get a fare card/rechargeable bus card?

The brickwork on these buildings in PV are beautifullll I wish we had more of this in Toronto but I know we have snow/ice build-up/falling hazard considerations

In the Region of Waterloo, a Bombardier FLEXITY Freedom LRV glides into Grand River Hospital station. Note how it cruises smoothly through every intersection, thanks to full Transit Signal Priority. In Waterloo, the LRT doesn’t stop for cars. #wrLRT

Transit Signal Priority on ion Light Rail, Region of Waterloo, Ontario (2019). Trains use a horizontal (stop) or vertical (go) white aspect bar, instead of red or green. The trains follow a wave and do not stop between stations. Toronto planners, please come here! #wrLRT

This is such a big @ttcriders & @mayoroliviachow win! The Scarborough Subway extension isn’t gonna open until past 2030 (probably even more delayed due to TBMs being stuck). People would have been stuck on buses in traffic. Now the busway will provide fast & reliable service!
Breaking: The busway temporarily replacing most of the defunct Scarborough Rapid Transit route will open next fall — a year earlier than expected, Mayor Olivia Chow announced on Friday. https://t.co/BkH2VrqprZ via @TorontoStar

For reference, Ottawa currently has 1.02 million (2021 Census) for the city proper, but estimates for the broader Ottawa-Gatineau metro area push it closer to 1.4 million.

lol more misinformation from Metrolinx. VIVA buses do not go Humber College. YRT (York Region Transit) buses do. VIVA is the BRT system in York Region and it does not connect to Humber, some general YRT buses do.
Line 6 Finch West = 10.3 km light rail line, 18 stops and multiple transit connections 🔁 Learn more about the new line which features connections to TTC’s Line 1 GO Transit, MiWay, Zum, York Region Transit, and Brampton Transit: https://t.co/0rv9yhH7JG

So councillor Cheng is moving to change the Transform Yonge plan to no longer remove car lanes for bike lanes (to conform to provincial regulation). Is it l possible to fit bike lanes without removing car lanes? They want to widen the sidewalk too. I guess narrow the car lanes?
