I have no issue with U.K. grads being prioritised but I don’t like how the focus has become on IMGs and them stealing our training places. The majority of the pressure should be on NHS/HEE England to rightfully increase the number of places surely?
Over 1/4 of all medical training posts are taken by IMGS. The number will only increase. Meanwhile, we have high quality, British graduates who are £100,000 in debt that can't get a job or training posts. British doctors deserve better.

My FY1s asked why I was on the wards in Dec. I explained holidays hadn't started yet. They asked me again why am I still here 😂
Been thinking about back in med school how I told the F1 I was taking a day off placement for Eid and she berated me about it. Because as a junior, my med student could tell me they were taking the day off to go strawberry picking or watch Greys anatomy and I'd say sure have fun

Possible unpopular opinion but med school ain't all that in terms of education. It's tough ofc but I have learnt x100 more working as a doctor than studying to be one. I think the true gap between medics and non-medics exists after grad/when ur working
