Meaning rather than a single sci-fi element from a distant/vanished world being dropped into ours, like prior Superman films, we are catapulted into an alternate earth where pocket dimensions, kaijus, and intergalactic travel/relations are all real and accepted. Very comic book.

The message is just as I assumed from the trailer—a broken down Superman fighting himself and his own image to reclaim what a superhero should be. Thus the world-building requires we are dropped into a world where superheroes, and Superman’s own mythos, already exist, for b or w.

Superman was perhaps the most comic-book film ever brought to life, at least in live action. It is 100% sci-fi/f. I didn’t hate it. Though I have no clue at all how general audiences will take it. I assume someone who only knows Superman from prior films will be totally lost.

Top Gun is unashamedly propaganda and it rocks. Stories having something to say/promote aren’t inherently bad. They’re bad when the presentation sucks, and when the only thing the presenter cares about is their message, but they don’t have the passion/discipline to win us over.
Have I sometimes called stories I like “propaganda?” Have I sometimes called stories I don’t like “news,” or “science?”.

Depends what you are editing for. Every few chapters, once I’ve run out of writing juice, I’ll spend a day or two just reading what I’ve got and tightening things up—grammar, prose, dialogue. Changing the *plot* is different. Can be done as you go, but takes more writing juice.
When do you edit your book? .Assuming you don't edit and write at the same time. I once saw a video where Tad Williams said to not change your beginning before you finish a draft. I kinda like that concept, write a full draft even if it's rough, then go back. But maybe that's not.

This is why Goodreads is a pretty rough metric, unfortunately. But even beyond Goodreads, it’s wild to me that there are people so devoted to mainstream corporate works that they would attempt to tank indie creators over a hint of snarky half-serious criticism. Cringe to the max.
