#FluVaccine program underway for Winter 2020 @WorcsAcuteNHS. Perhaps this combined with the #COVID19 social distancing measures, mask wearing and better hand hygiene will make this disease less deadly this year ๐คท๐ค

Covid19 hasn't gone away, and our amazing team are alert and ready to respond again. Although the smiles are tired, they're still there. Can't praise our staff highly enough. ๐๐๐

At the same time we're constantly refining our infection control practices, trying to get as much visiting back into the units, and preparing for Winter.

Haven't tweeted out in a while. It's been a Summer of taking stock and trying to get back to serving our lovely #Worcestershire patients as best we're able.

That's the way to do it! Excited to hear plans about supporting our Covid19 patients in collaboration with the respiratory team too! #puttingpatientsfirst #teamwork
Yesterday the Intensive Care OT's worked with the ICU MDT to provide the ICU follow up clinic virtually. OT's provided advice to patients on topics such as managing fatigue & returning to daily activities @WorcsAcuteICU @WAHT_Physio

This looks like a good thing to be part of - to help future nurses in the future.
Dear critical care nurse community. What you have done in the last four months has been beyond amazing. We are keen to understand your wider wellbeing needs. If you can, please take a moment to take part in @TomRozwahaโs research @ICS_updates @UHWCriticalCare

Great to see Victor looking so well๐ Our nurses also look great on the telly box ๐ Hope they don't start demanding film star wages and appearance fees now - even though they deserve them! ๐๐ฝ๏ธ๐๏ธโจ @WorcsAcuteNHS
'Thank you from the bottom of my heart for bringing my Mr home to me.' The emotional and heart-warming moment Victor and Helen are reunited with the medical team who cared for Victor during his time in hospital. ๐ Watch GMB ๐ https://t.co/yyUUJmzswF

A photo of the Worcester Royal lit up blue by @PSS_UK taken by one of our docs. Remembering all those who died of #Covid19 ๐ข๐, thinking of the bravery of our staff and looking forward to happier times ahead @WorcsAcuteNHS #LightItBlue

Planning today for the next public health event - the pubs opening on Saturday. We don't want a return to having to ventilate people who have drunk too much. Please drink sensibly, don't get into fights and everyone have a good time. @WorcsAcuteNHS @Ju1esW @clarebush3

The input of the military to the logistics challenge of the Covid19 crisis has been invaluable!
Today, on #ArmedForcesDay we're formally thanking the military for their support during Covid-19 and we've made a national pledge to veterans, serving personnel and their families by signing the Armed Forces Covenant ๐ฌ๐ง https://t.co/unOhfJikWX

Who knows what the future holds, but for the moment we don't have Covid19 on our intensive care units for the first time in nearly 100 days! @WorcsAcuteNHS

Today the UK CMOs changed the COVID alert level from Level 4 to Level 3. This reflects steady and continuing reduction in infection due to the efforts of the public. The pandemic is not over and we must all keep to social distancing rules to continue this improvement.
This morning the UK COVID-19 alert level was lowered from Level 4 to Level 3. It is critical that you continue to wash your hands and keep a safe distance from others. Read the latest NHS advice: โก๏ธ https://t.co/xSoOI6zprL

Great to see success in other hospitals too ๐ #NHSheroes
Our COVID ITU is officially empty! The ITU team, supported by hundreds of theatre staff who stepped forward to help, can reflect on an immense achievement. Really, really proud of everyone who lent a hand in the most uncertain and anxious days of our lives.

We've still got Covid-19 to deal with to be sure, we'll still be in PPE, and we'll always be ready to respond.

As we get back to more 'normal' work, supporting patients after major surgery, or severe illness and accidents, we will remember all of the support the community has given us through this time, a lot of it expressed on here. You're all awesome too!

This is not the end of the #COVID19 journey for us though. Work to be done to prepare for any second wave, perhaps in combination with 'flu.

After 12 weeks our consultants are standing down their emergency shift rota and going back to more normal work patterns. Enormous thanks to them all for rising to this challenge! @WorcsAcuteNHS #ICU

This is a very exciting development. To put some more meaningful numbers to it, patients with Covid19 on ventilators generally have around a 1 in 2 chance of death, with dexamethasone this could be lowered to 1 in 3. That is a massive difference.
Dexamethasone saves lives in COVID-19. RECOVERY trial shows dexamethasone decreases risk of death in those needing oxygen by 20%, and by 35% in those on a ventilator. On the shelf, cheap and can be taken by everyone - a real breakthrough.
