#Drought In #Turkana last week. Dire situation with #Water crisis, #children & #women suffer most missing out on school & walking long distances to collect water. @UNICEFKenya, with support from donors, rehabilitated 83 non-functional boreholes. The need & gap is still high.

Child Marriage is a harmful practice that continues to negatively impact lives of girls and their communities. At @Gufasha_Found ,we provide safe spaces for girls to share and learn on how to challenge and break social barriers that limit them from achieving their potential.

#children are forced to miss out in their #education in search of #water walking miles to the nearest water source, carrying heavy water cans back to their families. It's heartbreaking that the struggle for water is a daily battle. #climatechange Northern #Kenya #drought #ASAL

Patriarchal views legitimise gender based violence to ensure the dominance and superiority of men. The notion of entitlement and ownership of women, in turn, legitimises control over women’s sexuality. #EndSGBV

1/2 Lactating and expectant mothers in drought stricken areas like Samburu East are facing double tragedy. Looking after their health and that of their babies amidst search for food and drinking water is a nightmare. @UNICEFKenya has partnered with @MenEndFGM and @KenyaChildFund

In my speech at the UN, I noted that female leadership was critical to securing climate agreements – and will be just as essential to fulfilling it 🇺🇳 Women like Laurence Tubiana, Rachel Kyte, Hindou Ibrahim, Tessa Khan, & Mary Robinson are my heroes 🤍

Did you know Period poverty isn't just about missing school? It's also linked to higher rates of teenage pregnancies. Girls are forced to make tough choices, including engaging in risky sexual behavior to obtain them. Let's break the cycle and #endperiodpoverty! #FreeThePeriod

VICTORY! ⚡️ By a vote of 29 to 8, with 16 abstentions, the Islamic Republic of Iran was just expelled from the U.N. Women's Rights Commission. First time in United Nations history that any member state was removed from this body. Bravo to all who helped to make this happen! 🙏
