Many award shows (the recent BAFTAs too) just feel like they can barely be bothered to talk about the films of the year or the past and treat the honourees as adjacent to a variety show of celebrity links & sketches. If this makes me a hopeless nostalgic, so be it. Rant over. 3/3

To talk about something other than the Oscars slap, it still sticks in my craw that most winners had far less time than presenters (does everyone need to do banter?). I didn't like seeing Ryusuke Hamaguchi played off three times. And call me old fashioned but... 1/2

Just at BFI saw screening of a lovely film called ‘Love’ starring amazing autistic actor Jules Robertson. The writer Gemma Harvey has written a beautiful poignant piece. Diversive and inclusive casting is a MUST. There is a treasure of artistic creativity out there!

Excuse me for going into full Mama Rose “Sing out Louise” Mode, but am so proud of my darling Jules’ performance in the film “Love” which premiered at the #BFI yesterday. It’s about unrequited love on the spectrum - & the audience couldn’t have loved it more. ♥️
