We sure do! We learned a lot in 2023 and weāll learn even more in ā24!.

More encouraging news about OAE!.
New preprint! We found no negative impacts of OAE, if CO2 equilibrated, on microbial metabolic rates. In fact, we observed a potential co-benefit in the form of enhanced production rates upto a certain DIC threshold, possibly due to increased organic nitrogen turnover rates!!

Awesome article outlining the need for mCDR (makes sense that the thumbnail is Nova Scotia. given @planetary_tech is actually DOING IT here, now!!!!.

Reason #2 for an awesome @planetary_tech day, announcement of the @NOAA project that will launch another great academic-led study of our OAE solution, but this time in the US! More science more science!!.

Long overdue massive shoutout to my former @UAFcfos student Josie for publishing her MSc paper! Nice SGD study in Alaskan coastal waters. She is super bright, hard-working, and resilient. All of those qualities were needed to get this article published.

Honoured to speak about @planetary_tech at the @HfxPartnership AGM. I really do love this work, and I know that comes through in moments like this. SO annoyed I forgot my new favourite message/tag line of how our work brings āhope and jobsā

Sorry to belabour. Within the OAE space we constantly discuss 'safety'. It's SO critical that we measure 'harm' against the harm of no action. These heatwaves are one of the many results of DECADES OF INACTION. Yes, action can feel scary at times, but INACTION IS SCARIER!.
One of the most severe marine heatwaves on Earth has developed off the coast of Ireland and the UK, with water temperatures as high as 4-5°C above normal. NOAA's Marine Heatwave Watch has categorized this event as a Category 4 (extreme) marine heatwave.
