Amazing visit to the @GreatForestNP just outside Melbourne. Spectacular stands of mountain ash - the tallest flowering trees in the world. This forest area is unbelievably biodiverse, home to multiple endangered species and only an hour from Melbourne!

A blue-green algae alert has been issued for the Lower Darling-Baaka River today. It was only a few days ago when pumping was allowed to resume upstream of Bourke. https://t.co/JEdkS6ccc2

View from the tree sit over misty forests of Errinundra East Gippsland. Too precious to log, & the bulldozers would've moved in without brave actions of community member still up the tree. @DanielAndrewsMP the senseless destruction needs to stop & transition brought forward.

Confidential document we got through FOI reveals Enviro Dept. told state owned VicForests logging should stop in bushfire ravaged East Gippsland due to "risk of “serious and irreversible damage” to the state’s biodiversity". But logging has continued! https://t.co/OL2bIDmJgQ

Letters sent to the forestry agency advised logging in bushfire-affected areas should apply the ‘precautionary principle’ to consider threatened species

A long-running court case to protect old growth forests from logging is part of the sorry saga of definitional loopholes, weak standards, non-enforcement -- & bloated wood volumes. You can support @FFRCinc & @EJ_Aus amazing work, by chipping in here:

UPDATE: We head back to court on 14 December next week! We’ll make our final arguments in our 3 year legal battle for old growth forest protection! The government said they'd protect old growth...

Unfortunately, the Morrison Government is proposing to immediately hand environmental safeguards to the states while promising to make changes of an ill-defined nature to improve environmental standards in the future. #EPBCActReview #EPBC #auspol

Claims from pro-logging MPs & groups that Bunnings' decision will cost hundreds of jobs are ridiculous & unfounded. VicForests broke the law. Responsibility lies solely with the government. Logging isn't sustainable, or legal, & workers need to be supported to transition now.

Good on you @Bunnings for dropping VicForest supplied wood from your shops and sticking to your commitment of "Zero-tolerance" of illegal timber sourcing.🐨🌳 The State gov should stop wasting tax payers $ on legal appeals and bring forward transition funds for industry
