November outlook (in brief) 1st half Mild and unsettled out to the 9/10/11th ish We will see blocking patterns develop, likely leading to higher pressure to the N/NE/E So more drier days, further E at first, but perhaps more widely with time to mid month 2nd half It's

The Lake District is known for rain but it's been very wet recently, even for here. 319 mm of rain has fallen at Honister in 42 hours to 1500 today, 100mm+ more widely. Further rain in the coming hours may prolong flooding of a few roads and poor driving conditions 🌧️

Why is it so mild today❓ It's all because of the southwesterly wind direction we have at the moment This is bringing mild Atlantic air to the UK 🌡️

Almost all Major Hurricanes undergo an eyewall replacement cycle. Melissa never did. She sustained CATEGORY 5 status for 35 consecutive hours, the 8TH longest total duration of Cat 5 winds ever documented in an Atlantic Hurricane, and the longest since Hurricane Irma in 2017.

Thunderstorms are possible in places today and these may given sudden strong wind gusts, hail and torrential rain ⛈️ Be prepared to adjust your driving to the road conditions and perhaps consider leaving longer for your journey 🚙

After hitting Jamaica, hurricane #Melissa made a second landfall in eastern Cuba this morning as a Category 3 storm with 120 MPH winds This is the worst hurricane to hit Cuba since Irma in 2017 The Bahamas and possibly Bermuda still lie in its path

Well, this is crazy. Coming off of her historically violent, 185 MPH landfall in Jamaica, Hurricane Melissa has rapidly reorganized on her way to Cuba despite being heavily disrupted by mountainous terrain. The latest NHC advisory has her back at CATEGORY 4 status with winds of

It's set to turn more unsettled for the end of the week The jet stream will pick up an area of low pressure and steer it towards the UK Heavy rain and strong winds are likely for some, so keep up to date with the forecast 🌧️🌬️

Meteorologically speaking Melissa is one of the most perfect, most beautiful examples of tropical dynamics I think I’ve ever seen. You’d struggle to find a more symmetrical eye, especially by Atlantic standards.

Melissa's slow crawl while strengthening to category 5 is very reminiscent of Dorian 2019, except the eyewall is thankfully not impacting any land areas. Sadly, it's forecast to turn toward Jamaica tonight & make landfall there tomorrow... as a category 5. Stay strong, Jamaica.
