The report from HMICFRS is significant - it confirms all our fears but offers clear recommendations to restore impartiality, trust and confidence in the police. If someone tells you ‘two tier’ policing is some mad conspiracy theory - tell them to read it.

We will be watching with great interest. It’s time to rescue and restore the Peelian principles of policing: impartiality being one of the most necessary.
Linsey Smith’s application for judicial review agaisnt Northumbria Police in July is hugely significant. If she gets her declaration that Northumbria have breached the statutory duty of impartiality then this is a real head of the snake moment - all forces must get in line. See
