I was supposed to go the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research annual members meeting in Boulder this week. Instead, this statement will be read tomorrow to all the member representatives on my behalf. One of the most difficult things I have ever had to write.

Be kind to one another folks. Reach out and talk to the students by themselves. Talk with the person who helped organize the meeting. Be constructive. Be smart as shit and funny and kind. Be like Tom.

Gutted about @tmeixner. Ugh- his family and then his students & colleagues dealing with the dual trauma of gun violence. I wish I could have told him how much I looked up to him. Admired his views on life & science. I was waiting to reach out- I’d listed him as a letter writer.
