I know I’m biased but springs are one of the coolest inventions in mechanical engineering. If you need to apply force to create movement or hold something in place without the use of engines or other powered means, springs could be the answer. Thread 🧵

These are my favorites cause it shows how futuristic the Shuttle was for its time. And also what the entire architecture was capable of in-terms of the wide range of Operations, scale of Payloads it handled and the entire mission profile. Hopefully Starship gets to the same

The Pillar in the Heart Nebula I took this over the course of 5 nights with Sulfur, Hydrogen and Oxygen filters. I used my C11 telescope and ZWO ASI183MM Pro camera, 37 hours total. Thank you to @astrophys_echo for asking me to image this, it’s one of coolest things I’ve done
