This is why my main telescope setup is actually three telescopes working in tandem. 3x the power!

The reason that collective imaging is so effective is because the power of a telescope system is determined by how much light you can collect in a given amount of time. When multiple scopes work together, you stack their light collecting capabilities, allowing you to capture.

We have even used the collective power of the observatory to discover supernova remnants, and planetary nebula! Here is the first optical image of SNR G25.1-2.3 and our first planetary nebula discovery SFO1

Last year, 25 of us also collected over 1000hrs of exposure on the Triangulum Galaxy, revealing some faint and intricate details inside!

This is a group effort of 23 people here at the observatory, with all kinds of different scopes. Together, the group forms one huge virtual telescope with huge light collecting capabilities!

One big question I got about the observatory is if we have ever pointed all the scopes at one spot? The answer is yes!. This is the result of one such effort, 1650 hours of exposure in Ursa Major!

Since a lot of people are confused about what this is, every telescope here is owned by a person. Each person can log in remotely to use their telescope to capture photos of space from our dark skies!.

Heck even backyard astronomy requires owning a home with a backyard, or somewhere safe to set up a scope. This isn’t possible for most people. So instead we decided to radically improve the cost to host telescopes, to unlock remote imaging for many more people than ever before.

The reason a place like this must exist is because astronomy is exponentially more difficult to do from light polluted skies. To circumvent this, people used to drive hours outside the city any time they wanted to do astro. This is a huge logistical barrier, and economic

For those wondering, there is no AI or compositing here. The image is made from 7 x 1 second long exposures through RGB filters, and then stacked to reduce noise. The end result has enough depth to show faint stars, and the deep glow of the moon in the atmosphere.
