As an IMG & overseas dr. in the NHS who couldn't use my annual leave to go and visit my mum and family back in the redlisted Egypt for more than a year, I just wanted to ask: is anyone aware of the toll it's taking on our wellbeing? Proper annual leave is not a luxury for IMGs

Last Thursday a guardian angel saved my husband - Mathew O'Toole’s - life. Matt collapsed on Thursday morning last week outside a coffee shop in London. He started vomiting. Many people passed by. Many probably assumed that he was drunk or hungover. One lady stopped (cont’d)..

Lots of people asking about the #COVID19 #Simulations we have been doing. Here’s a thread of thoughts and advice 1. We already have an established process for low acuity patients. We’ve not done simulation with walk ins.

This is such a key point. Social distancing measures do work - but they are most effective when implemented *before* things get bad. My personal opinion would be that we should start them now in London - not wait 2 weeks until epidemic approaching peak. Whole thread is good.

My takeaways: 1) early intervention spares the health system from intense stress -- like Philly vs. St. Louis. 2) Early intervention means before it feels bad. Guangzho intervened when they had 7 confirmed cases & 0 deaths. Wuhan's came when they had 495 confirmed cases, 23 dead
