Regulatory barriers that have built up over decades have left us in a severe housing shortage of ~4M; the fed gov has a role to play in helping communities improve affordability with best practices and research.

Suburban communities account for 48.7% (1.9M) of the housing deficit but new housing construction isn't keeping up. Constrained supply leads to higher prices, and regulatory barriers are a big driver. Good federal policy like RRBHA can help!

Housing underproduction is a national crisis and it demands a national solution. RRBHA offers resources and opportunities to help communities who want to engage but don’t know where to start.

Rising home prices in places like Nantucket Cnty, MA, and Kaufman Cnty, TX, make it difficult for hospitals and schools to remain fully staffed. Regulatory barriers that make it hard to build drive home prices up, but fed legislation like RRBHA can help!

According to @jenny_schuetz at @BrookingsMetro, "State and local governments alone can't solve these housing challenges. The federal government has an important role to play." Legislation like RRBHA helps support local govs who want to do the right thing but lack resources.
