Today, the URA board authorized early steps to explore a proposed Downtown Transit Revitalization Investment District (TRID). If advanced, a TRID could support transit, infrastructure, and public realm investment in Downtown @Pittsburgh. More to come as the work progresses!

Pittsburgh Urban Initiatives, an affiliate of the URA, was awarded $60 million in New Markets Tax Credits to invest in low-income communities around the city. Investments will support manufacturing, retail, housing, health, technology, childcare and food and beverage industries.

The URA offices are closed today and tomorrow for construction work at our building, but we're still accessible by phone or email. Next Thurs. and Fri., we're off for Thanksgiving. The offices are closed, and we'll be back to our usual operations on Mon., Dec. 1

Over 300 new trees were planted at the fully remediated slag heap in Swisshelm Park. All trees cut down to remediate the site were replaced, and we planted a few extra to go above and beyond for our city and our neighbors.

The restored Troy Hill Firehouse is a great example of how we can preserve historic neighborhood assets & return them to a productive use. BioInterphase, a Pittsburgh bioengineering firm is now using the space as its office & lab to develop innovative materials and technologies.
Troy Hill's historic firehouse sat empty for years. A bioengineering company — and silkworms — live there now.
