I proudly hereby proclaim this day in honor of City Staff at Schenley Pool and I commend their extraordinary actions that exemplify the spirit of service and commitment to safety in our community.

This outcome is a testament to the strength of the @CitiParks Aquatics training program and the professionalism, preparedness, and dedication of our lifeguard staff.

I also want to acknowledge the support of Acting Fire Chief Dave Hamburger, who, while swimming at the pool, provided invaluable assistance during the rescue.

Today, I had the honor of recognizing and uplifting the heroic actions of the @Pittsburgh lifeguards at Schenley Pool for their life-saving response on August 23, 2025.

I also want to honor the legacy of the center’s directors, the commitment of its current leadership, and the many people who have supported Homewood’s mission over the years. That is why I am proud to proclaim September 30, 2025, as “Homewood Healthy Active Living Center Day.”

Since opening its doors in 1975, Homewood has grown from a space where older women gathered to share meals and socialize, into a vibrant hub offering activities for all, such as line dancing, fitness programs, and more. (2/2)
