Governments are a crucial part of shaping the Humanitarian Reset to make our work as effective and efficient as possible. Excellent conversation in Geneva on our plans in Gaza and Sudan, the support we need, and how we improve delivery for millions in need.

Poor rains, rising hunger and funding cuts are pushing millions to the brink in Somalia. ย I've allocated $10M from @UNCERF for early action โ to protect people before drought becomes catastrophe. ย Food. Water. Health. Critical to reach people in the hardest-hit areas.

My diary for @ObserverUK of a dramatic week in Darfur, as we try to open up new routes, funding and solidarity for people at the epicentre of global suffering.

Humanitarian action cannot be reimagined without the activism and agency of young people. Excellent to spend some time with newer @UNOCHA colleagues in Geneva on how to challenge and disrupt power.

Thank you, Ambassador, for a strategic, practical and expert brainstorm on how we ensure that the Humanitarian Reset makes a meaningful impact for the people we serve.
EU Ambassador Deike Potzel commended Emergency Relief Coordinator @UNReliefChief Fletcher for his leadership in responding to humanitarian crises from Sudan to Gaza. She reaffirmed the ๐ช๐บโs full support for efforts to reform the humanitarian system through the Reset and #UN80.

Productive meeting with UAE Minister Al Hashimy in Geneva. We are in a vital period of diplomacy to end conflicts, in which we must protect civilians and open up neutral humanitarian access to those most in need. Also good to think through the next phase of Humanitarianย Reset.

A vicious, orchestrated, and unchecked campaign of violence by weak men against women and girls is raging like wild fire. ย As we start 16 Days of Activism, we must stand with survivors, with partners supporting them, and hold perpetrators to account. #16Days

The conditions described โ acute malnutrition & life-threatening illness among those escaping El Fasher โ reflect what I saw in Tawila last week. ย Partners are providing urgent services, but needs far exceed resources. ย We need unhindered access to civilians wherever they are.
In just one night, @MSF screened 70 children arriving from El Fasher. Every single one had acute malnutrition. Giulia Chiopris warns they are at high risk of death from preventable diseases. After 500 days of siege, families are eating animal feed. We need safe passage now.

Congratulations to Sudanโs Emergency Response Rooms. ย Their volunteers have sustained communities through war โ providing impartial aid, repairing essential services, and saving lives in impossible conditions. ย A powerful recognition of local responders & extraordinary courage.
Chatham House is pleased to announce that Sudan's grassroots mutual aid groups - the Emergency Response Rooms (ERRs) - have been awarded the 2025 Chatham House Prize. ๐ Read more about their crucial work delivering humanitarian support in ๐ธ๐ฉ โคต๏ธ https://t.co/eRjWt94OLa

Wars have rules. But drones are becoming more deadly. We need to spend more time and energy protecting people than we spend finding new ways to kill each other. Thank you Costa Rica for hosting conference on #EWIPA declaration. More ๐

One year ago, I pledged to defend humanitarian principles and people we serve. Context has got tougher - more conflict, cuts, people in need, attacks on us, polarization. But our outstanding team is as committed as ever to the mission, and a movement is out there to deliver it.
Great first day joining Team @UNOCHA. While I look forward to getting started, I do not doubt how tough the work will be. But I start with hope, because our movement is strong and our cause is mighty. Hear from me as I wrap up day 1.โฌ๏ธ

Mass executions. Mass rape. Mass displacement. What I heard this week was grim beyond words. The priority is to prevent any further atrocities. More on my interview with @SkyYaldaHakim:
UN humanitarian chief @UNReliefChief tells @SkyYaldaHakim that people in the Sudanese city of al Fashir are reporting mass executions, mass rape and other horrors after paramilitary forces took control of the city. https://t.co/rVnpIgsmzp ๐บ Sky 501 and YouTube

Thanks Tom Fletcher for going to Tawila and meeting the victims of the Al Fasher atrocities. It is a pity UN member states did not do more to support our humanitarian and protection efforts in Darfur the last two years nor acted on our warnings that there was a relentless
Thanks for feedback, Senator. Iโve just spent week in Darfur, visiting our brave teams risking their lives to help. It is hard, imperfect, lifesaving work. I wish I could stop atrocities myself. Happy to brief you in Washington or Darfur on what we do and how world can help.

Darfur is an absolute horror show. We have a moment of opportunity if the world is ready to seize it. Civilians must be protected. Access must be expanded. Flow of arms must be limited.
