In Mozambique, more than 600,000 people remain displaced by conflict and climate shocks. Yet, communities and local institutions here are leading with resilience and hope. I’m here to listen, learn, and strengthen the partnerships that turn recovery into lasting opportunity.

Delighted to meet State Secretary Bernd Krösser and Ambassador Antje Leendertse for high-level consultations with Germany. Together, we’re strengthening cooperation on migration governance, advancing humane, and principled solutions for people on the move.

Violence drives displacement, and too often, women and girls face even greater risks on the move. This #16DaysOfActivism, we commit to safe pathways, dignity, and protection for every woman, every migrant. Together, we can #EndGBV.

From hospitals to orphanages, this week in Sudan showed what’s at stake, and what’s possible when we work together. @UNmigration and partners are delivering humanitarian support, but also investing in durable solutions for #Sudan. Recovery is a shared responsibility.

In Sudan, the scale of suffering is staggering: 10M people displaced, women and girls subjected to horrific violence. The world cannot look away. We must act now to protect lives and dignity. My message from Khartoum

Productive discussion today with Mr. Ahmed Osman Hamza, Wali of Khartoum, on how we can work together to restore essential services and support families returning home. With our office reopened in Khartoum, @UNmigration remains committed to helping communities rebuild.

I met women and children who fled El Fasher — walking for days, hiding from drones, carrying only their children. Our teams are doing everything they can. But without access and funding, we can’t reach those who need us most. This is a call for humanity. https://t.co/7hziar94Mg

I came to Sudan to listen. At Al Afad camp, I met families who fled Al Fasher. A mother who lost her husband and children. Girls just nine years old now displaced and traumatized. 30M people need aid. 10M are displaced. Sudan’s crisis is deepening. The world must not look away.

I’m in #Sudan, and the stories I’m hearing are horrific. What’s unfolding in El Fasher is beyond words. Civilians are trapped. Severe violations are being reported. The world must act now to protect civilians and ensure safe, sustained access to aid. https://t.co/U2uDQRiGqm

Today in Port-Sudan, I visited IOM’s warehouse, where life-saving relief items arrive before reaching communities in crisis. Stocks are dangerously low. Only 5,000 kits remain. Urgent funding is needed to keep humanitarian aid flowing.

Sudan’s communities are resilient, but they need support. I met Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Lamia Abdel Ghaffar & Foreign Minister Muhi al-Din Salem Ahmed to reaffirm IOM’s commitment. We’re advocating for more access, bridging funding gaps & standing with those rebuilding.

In Port Sudan, I met Mama Nour and the team at Shamaa Shelter. Their compassion and courage in supporting survivors of gender-based violence and trafficking, especially young mothers and girls, is deeply moving. IOM is proud to stand with them. Lifesaving care must continue.

I just arrived in Sudan, to shed light on the humanitarian crisis. Over 30 million people need help. Nearly 10 million are displaced inside the country. IOM is on the ground to support survivors, restore dignity, and push for urgent action. The world must step up.

Safety begins before the storm. In northern Viet Nam, new evacuation centers are helping families prepare — with solar power, warm meals, and a safe place to rest. Because resilience isn’t built in crisis. It’s built in community.

When safe, regular, and orderly migration is used as a strategic driver of solidarity, inclusion & development, we all benefit. At the #WorldSocialSummit, I'm joining leaders to turn this vision into reality, where every person on the move can contribute fully to their new home.
