The average UK household bins 25% of the food it buys - so cheap most households think nothing of throwing it away. For all that farmers can do to increase the sustainability of production, this is the food with the highest environmental footprint.

Nesting season for Rooks... here the male courts the female and attempts mating, then collects material for lining the nest, but soon discards it! Meanwhile the female then gathers a large bundle of leaves and feathers in her bill before flying off to complete the nest...

This year marks 10 years in curlew conservation, starting with a 500 mile walk across Ireland and the UK to help them. Why Curlews in particular? "I liked something about the way Curlew lived in the world, sang to the world, and drifted through the world with a light touch."

Greenland sharks may live as long as five or six centuries. They are huge, slow moving, living beneath the ice. Just think, there are fishing boats out there looking to catch and kill these ancient giants just to remove their fins for a tasteless soup. Itโs ecocide.

Nearly 60 years ago an oak tree was planted in the village of Cossington to commemorate the death of Sir Winston Churchill. Yesterday, it was cut down despite the wishes of the villagers to create access to a new housing development. Britain doesnโt care about its own history.

The Dorset and Somerset Bassets were seen off by our drone today after being caught hunting hares, and even chasing a fox in Manston. This is them making a hasty pack-up. Huntsman Charlie Ford is in court on the 8th June after we previously caught them hare hunting in Bagber.

Just a reed-fringed channel at Minsmere, Suffolk, but a nice surprise to find this Otter swimming towards me at close range! It looked at me briefly then continued fishing in earnest, often going deep into the reedbed... Viewed from the visitor trail (11th February 2026)
