It's sad because he's certainly likable in his doofus teenage boy kind of way in season 1. But there's no substance behind this Flash and it's a real shame because YJ is quite seriously the only universe we've ever had that could've done Wally's story right.

YJ Wally only works in function and form as a character who's there to support other characters. He never completes his own character arc, his biggest character development happens off screen, and the most important thing he does is die to make other characters sad.

The thing that gets me the most is the only character beat he had in S2 was the insecurity and inferiority he has at being magnitudes worse than his cousin and uncle. And they resolve that by having him die because he's too slow compared to them. It's such a depressing lesson.

The shittiest thing about this grid is the fact that Sue isn't on it. The three boys get solos or appearances in other shit as cameos or teamups but Sue? Nope. You don't count as much as the boys.

don't worry Gunn will just keep using Flash and Wonder Woman to farm their supporting characters and villains for other stuff. like how the fuck do you have plans for circe and gorilla grodd but not wonder woman and flash what the fuck are you talking about.

I do understand this isn't an unpopular opinion in the spaces I hang out, but it is very unpopular in the larger Flash community.

Flashpoint and Flash Rebirth are bad comics. Poorly written, antithetical to The Flash on many conceptual levels, and obviously the far reaching consequences of these comics are things the franchise might never escape.

Owen Mercer (Captain Boomerang II). Everything about the character is a headache. Short of completely overhauling him such that he's a new character (which might be what they did recently) I just can't see myself ever liking this dude either as a replacement or on his own merits.
