Nothing is worse than talking to someone who "gets" comic characters but only experienced them through adaptations and did bare minimum research. Discussing parts of their essence without being able to debate the actual content where it's fully realized sucks so hard.

Comics are one of the most explicitly introspective mediums because of how much attention you need to put into dialogue and (if you're cool) thought bubbles. There's a certain level of intimacy you get with comic characters that's harder to grasp in other art forms like Cinema.

This is my biggest problem with "old comics". They think in an episodic format without prioritizing the long-term approach so they keep repeating dramatic plot beats in slightly different contexts that hit in the exact same way. 60s spider-man is a good example.

Not only did "Soap Opera" become a buzzword in the comic community, but this specific type of praised drama in here often sucks lmao. It's a type of melodrama that ends up becoming repetitive and forced very fast because of how forced a lot of it feels.

Why does Twitter remove the likes of tweets that replied to you after a while. I feel like an asshole everytime I look at an old tweet and see that no comments were liked even though they were.
