The wind, sun, water and batteries can power the UK for 100% of its energy needs for as long as the planet exists.
But only for 95% of the time.
So what’s the point?
@Tw_timerAlder
Which batteries? What quantity of rare earth materials will be needed to provide them and how does that compare to known reserves?
Which industrial nations currently power their grids using renewables and batteries?
Batteries are currently going through a massive domino effect of adoption certain to phaseout 50% of global fossil fuel demand by 2040 at the latest. Because: economics
We are witnessing, live, the end of the age of oil (that's why Big Oil hijacked the UN climate talks)

And for every 1GW of wind and solar you add to the grid you have build 1GW of new gas fired generation as a back up.
(Whilst ignoring the fact that the gas fired generation already exists and just needs to be used a bit less)
@Tw_timerAlder
Saying for as long as the planet exists is not even close to being true. Solar and wind are very needy when it comes to resources. The point is keeping the economy going.
