This is amazing and will be a very useful resource!.
Story time: when I started my postdoc with @WatersLabMSU in August last year, we aimed to use V. cholerae to understand how genetic interactions, including epistasis and pleiotropy, influences its pathogenesis and evolution. 1/18.

Other than @KarinaXavierLab and @Biolluminator many Basslerites (@papenfortlab @Sampriti_M @NinaMolinHK @WatersLabMSU, Jing Yan, Brian Hammer), and many QS experts have contributed to this issue. Personal favorite is from @FuquaClay. Go check it out!.
Summer reading: in this editorial together with @Biolluminator Julia Van Kessel and @Tufts_NgLab Wai-Leung we wrote our thoughts about Bonnie’s @Qsense career and our amazing journal through her lab

Like CBASS, Ddm could defend against phage attack with an abortive infection mechanism (see by @MBlokesch's Lab). It makes perfect sense that QS is used to foster an altruistic behavior to achieve population-wide protection (2/2).

This is again a wonderful collaboration with @WatersLabMSU and @GeoffreySeverin and many others! Not only quorum sensing regulates CBASS, @Hydroxide_ion shows that QS also transcriptionally activates another anti-phage system Ddm in V. cholerae: (1/2).
We just posted a new @biorxivpreprint led by @GeoffreySeverin that shows the CBASS anti-phage defense system of V. cholerae is activated by both quorum sensing and folate depletion! 1/.

This is very interesting! In our previous study on VSP islands, @Hydroxide_ion isolated a Ddm-resistant phage with a slightly different DNAP. What could be the role of this polymerase variant in bypassing Ddm?.
Type II Lamassu defense system (also called DdmABC in V. cholerae) is triggered by DNA stem-loop hairpin structures. Structures are suggested to form during phage and plasmid replication from single-stranded or damaged DNA. Interesting preprint from the Mekalanos lab!
