🎉🎉🧠🧠🔬🔬🥼🥼🧬🧬.Big day! New @AmarSahay_ lab #preprint! Please share! Feedback welcome!.🍫🍫🍩🍩🍦🍦🔥🔥. Here we identify a unique cell-type and circuit in the brain 🧠 that regulates context-dependent feeding! 🍫🍫🍫. 🧵… 1/9.

Unfortunately, I have to keep my #sfn2024 trip a little short this year (my senior dog needs extra care). Sorry to miss this lateral septum session, but everyone should go (and all their posters)! 🔥🔥🔥

Fun fact! I’ll be at #sfn2024 this year! Let’s hang out and please come check out my poster/ongoing work this Monday PM! Hippocampus! Lateral septum! Hypothalamus! 🧠🧠🧠

Finally, if the dissection of neural circuits for regulation of #hippocampus- and #context-dependent behaviors sounds as cool/important as I think it is, please consider me for a faculty position! . Thanks!. End/9.

TL/DR: This work highlights how specific 🧠 circuits of the #hippocampus, #septum, and #hypothalamus may gate #eating when #context is important. 🍫🍫. One may consider how these systems may become dysfunctional when eating (or motivation more broadly) is perturbed. 7/9.

Using extensive mapping of septal neuropeptides + rigorous circuit dissection and behavior🐁, we identify #prodynorphin cells in the dorsolateral septum (DLS) as a critical bridge between the dorsal #hippocampus (DHPC) and lateral #hypothalamus (LHA) for contextual feeding!. 4/9

The #hippocampus (HPC) is essential for contextual memory… likewise, the #hypothalamus (see: @HypothalamusGrc) critically regulates food-seeking. But what circuits might bridge these regions for calibration of feeding when #context matters?. 3/9.
