Collapse is accelerating. Forests are drying, seas are heating, and carbon sinks are breaking down. The salt in the wound? Our leaders are lying about it. We must rebel to replace them before all we hold dear is destroyed before our eyes. https://t.co/GfFgzgnsbQ

A new report on Global Tipping Points says we’re heading for irreversible collapse. Coral reefs are already gone, the Amazon is dying, and Atlantic circulation will follow. The result? “Mass mortality and forced displacement become likely.” That means millions on the move or

Satellite Data Reveal Changing Lakes Under Antarctic Ice Water flowing from subglacial lakes can have a significant effect on glaciers in the vicinity “It can lubricate the bed of the glacier and potentially make it flow faster” “That contributes to sea level rise”

Antarctic glacier’s alarming retreat is the fastest ever seen Hektoria glacier on the Antarctic Peninsula retreated 25 kilometers in just 15 months. Its rapid melt could have implications for other glaciers and the rate of sea level rise https://t.co/MW8IBTOhE5

It’s not the 6th mass extinction of life on Earth, it’s a mass extermination. The fossil fuel industry and politicians know this is happening and are doing the opposite of what we need to stop it. The media largely watches silent, only concerned with fluff and nonsense.

👻BOO‼️ I can't think of anything scarier than this. The greenhouse gases we have added to the atmosphere now force over a billion Hiroshima bombs worth of heat into the Earth system every year.

The fact is we're already hitting 1.5-1.7°C with a lot more warming baked in (1.1 trillion tonnes of CO2; inertia). That's the reality of the physical world. At 2°C by 2030-55, get ready for Earth to warm itself, taking species to 2.5/3°C and more. Extinction looms for 33-75%.
In the early 2020s, global GHG emissions had to peak by 2024 or before (with immediate action) to limit warming to 2°C. But today, just months from the late 2020s there's still no peak. For any theoretical chance of avoiding >2°C emissions must plummet by 2029. Feasible? No.🧵
