When you consider how they have used inflation as a stealth tax, have increased nominal taxes anyway, and yet the deficit has ballooned to £150bn, when will people get it in their heads that we are essentially insolvent? Govt is spending too much. And much of what it spends is

£12,570. That's your tax-free allowance in 2021. And 2022. And 2023. And 2024. And 2025. And 2026. Inflation didn't get the memo 🤣

Poor taxation policy is driving my generation abroad and away from the UK. There is a 51% marginal tax after £50k, and after £100k that becomes 71% . In addition to loss of child related benefits. It simply doesn't pay to work.

The most fascinating documentary I’ve ever seen is called The Up Series. It followed the lives of a group of 7-year-olds - and filmed them at age 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49, 56, and 63. Biggest takeaway: Who you are at 7 is likely who you are at 63.

The UK must be the worst place in the western world to earn between £80-£140k because you are going to pay Scandinavian levels of tax without any of the benefits of being in a Scandinavian country 😂

At some point, the UK needs to choose. One option is the Scandinavian route: everyone pays more tax, and everyone gets Scandinavian-style services. Or we go the other way: cut services and benefits so we can hold — or even reduce — the total tax burden. What we can’t do is more

In a properly functioning market, the higher your income, the lower your rate because the lender (wisely) judges you're more likely to pay off your loan so are a lower risk. The UK is, however, no longer a functioning market. It's a series of overlapping price controls.

I make documentaries for a living, and love the drama of Cov twitter. Who would be keen to see a documentary on it? Could be made even more special if it’s released end of season if we get promotion 👀 #PUSB

"I will maintain all income tax and national insurance thresholds for a further three years from 2028". Translation. Fiscal drag remains. Its a stealth tax. Freezing thresholds while average earnings rise mean people pay a bigger proportion of their income in tax. #Budget2026

Since tax thresholds were frozen in the UK in April 21 cumulative inflation has been over 22%. If they'd kept pace the tax free band would be £15,335 and the higher rate band £61,329, rather than the current £12570 and £50,270. So if you are a working person on £60,000

you now pay £11742 in income tax: if rates had kept pace with inflation it would be £8933. So that's a 30% increase in the tax you pay. On top of the cost of living crisis. Don't let anyone tell you taxes aren't rising: they are lying.

Tax thresholds frozen, student loan grown by 10k since graduating, cutting ISAs, astronomical rents, pension contributions taxed. Is there any financial hope for a 30-year-old in Britain?

Today Rishi Sunak has a choice: Continue with his unfair tax rise at the worst possible time. Or, cancel his tax rise and cut energy bills with a windfall tax on oil and gas profits. Labour would act now to ease the cost of living. We are on the side of working people.

So after paying for my uni tuition that the boomers got for free, I now have to pay tax on my pension contributions when the boomers didn't, just to make sure that the boomers get an even more generous state pension with their final salary pensions, of which I will get neither.

So, apart from their combined income of over 300k, Rachel Reeves and her husband also take in 74k in rental income. And yet she still felt the need to accept 7.5k in donations for clothes and then lie about it. Meanwhile, pensioners freeze. Just wow!

Having slept on things - a fan disturbing McIlroy's putt by yelling 'fuck you Rory', only for Shane Lowry to hole a 50-footer for eagle, point at said fan and roar 'Fuck you!' is an all-time Irish sporting moment
