This is just fabulous. Warlock’s epic pastiche of Renaissance dances - the Capriol Suite - as a Mass setting. Just Brilliant. Definitely doing this with @MusicStJohnsW14 😍.
Missa Capriolensis is a new work of the music of Peter Warlock reimagined as a setting of the mass by George Richford. Here’s The Kyrie sang at this morning’s Eucharist at Portsmouth Cathedral.

On a serious note, whoever wrote this report has a very different experience than mine. The M62 Biretta belt, South London, the Anglo-Catholic black-majority churches in Tottenham with congregational plainsong masses and a steel band next to me at the organ. I despair.

Having a spectacular time back home with a wonderful team. This is a GRAND festival - and only 8 years old!. If you like early music, fancy drinking mead & dancing to the OG Carmina Burana until late, or sitting round the castle hearths in the dark being a troubadour, book it in.
We’re at Medieval Music in the Dales this weekend, performing music by John Dunstable - composer, astrologer, mathematician… (all-round brainbox) - and leading workshops on Gregorian chant!. So wonderful to be in the heart of Yorkshire for music of the era of @bolton__castle!
